Important initial considerations
The characteristics of the location where our fountain will be installed (park, plaza, garden, shopping center, indoor space, etc.) and the desired effect (main attraction, space delineation, secondary effect) are key factors in the design of our fountain architectural.
Dimensions and features of the glass
The glass from the fountain architectural must be aesthetically pleasing, functional, and as small as possible. It must accommodate the volume of circulating water when thefountain notfountain operationand be equipped with the mechanisms and automatic controls that ensure the minimum water level required by thesubmersible pumpsat maximum capacity. By installinglevel sensors, drains, andoverflows, we will control the water level in the basin. The splash radius of awater jet—which, for practical purposes, can be considered equal to its height—also determines the minimum dimensions of the basin.
Nozzles, Manifolds, and Pump Assembly
The type ofnozzles, their number, how they are connected, and the specifications of the selected pump station determine theoperation of thearchitectural fountain . That is to say: theheight of the water jets, types of jets, etc. In this section, we must pay attention to the flow rates and pressure required by eachtype of nozzle; this data is available in our technical data sheets. The ability to group nozzles into sets and supply them independently allows for more precise regulation and ensures that the fountain architectural to operate at reduced capacity during periods of lower public traffic.
How can the discharge effect be avoided in long manifolds?
Pressure drop incircularand linear (row)collectorsof significant diameter or length causes a gradual decrease in theheight of the water jets, which isdirectlyrelated to the length of the conduit or pipe. In such cases, it is recommended to allow water to enter the collector at several points.
Minimum water flow rate at the pumping station
When sizing the pump station, we must take into account the operating pressure and the total flow rate of thefountain , which is the sum of the individual flow rates (technical data sheets) of each fountain head. If the installation cost allows, it is advisable to install a dual pump system to ensure the operation of the fountain architectural during breakdowns, schedule maintenance and repair work, and “spread out” wear and tear.
Key considerations when lighting anarchitectural fountain
The lighting of anarchitectural fountain is a very important aspect, whether using conventional white or colored light or submersible LEDs , the height ofthe water jetwe want to illuminate must be taken into account when choosing the projector that best suits our needs. For ourfountain to stand out at night, it must be brighter than the ambient light present in cities at night.
How do I install colored lights on fountain architectural fountain ?
In conventional lighting, the use of color filters makes it possible to easily and inexpensively achieve the desired color with any light source.
Today, the use ofDMX controllersand RGB LED lamps allows for the creation of lights in many more colors than with fixed-color filters; furthermore, it enables these colors to be changed in sync and adds many possibilities for lighting effects...
Illuminating a 10-meter-high water jet
We need to illuminate the 10-meter area to at least 300 lux (roughly equivalent to the ambient light found in cities at night) to ensure visibility. Based on our product specifications, we can determine that a HALOSPOT fixture with a 75-watt SPOT lamp would provide approximately 600 lux at a distance of 10 meters. Therefore, that would be the lamp to install. With the help ofwatertight conduit glandsandjunction boxes—components developed by our technical department—we will ensure the electrical installation of thefountain is completely watertight.
Illuminating a spray cloud
Thespray cloudsare produced by a high density of spray nozzles , creating a “cloud” of microscopic droplets at a low height; therefore, for lighting, we will use lamps with a wide beam that achieve a greater illumination radius. Within our product range, we offer several models that provide this type of lighting in both white and colored light, as well as in conventional and LED versions.
LED and RGB
Oursubmersible spotlightsare compatible with LED bulbs and offer all the benefits that come with them, including low power consumption, long lifespan, high luminous efficiency, colored light, programmable and changing colors, and more. The technical specifications for the spotlights include the range of luminous flux for each bulb, as well as the technical specifications for ourDMX controllersand power supplies.
When should you install a fountain ?
The level of dissolved oxygen in the water is the determining factor for the types of organisms present in apond; low oxygen levels cause fish to die, algae to proliferate, and anaerobic microorganisms to thrive, leading to foul odors, etc. Water currents naturally regulate the dissolved oxygen content in the water; when there are no water currents or they are insufficient, dissolved oxygen levels drop, making mechanical aeration of the water necessary. The floating aerators and fountains serve a dual purpose thanks to the water movement they generate: they oxygenate the water and serve as ornamental features, making them a highly recommended option for anynaturalor artificialpond.
How much aeration is needed for a pond?
It depends on the size of the pond—surface area, depth, water quality, runoff, etc. For a standard pond, we can consider the aeration provided by 1 horsepower per 4,000 square meters to be sufficient. Using this information, we can determine our requirements.
