We would like to round off this series on fountain nozzles with others that, despite being less widely used, nevertheless provide very interesting aesthetics in water feature fountains.

Laminar effect fountain nozzle

These fountain nozzles producing a laminar water jet incorporate a device at the top which is responsible for creating the desired shape in each case. Thus, the jet can have the shape of a Chalix (Fig. 38), Mushroom (Fig. 39), a Fan (Fig. 40), e Sphere (Fig. 41), a Hemisphere (Fig. 42), or, when the Calix is combined with a Lance Jet, an Aurum Lily Jet (Fig. 52) is formed. They are truly spectacular shapes with low water consumption due to the thin sheet of water they produce. Because the sheet of water is so narrow, the sheet of water has low resistance against wind and so the location therefore has to be chosen carefully. Normally, they are fitted in indoor fountains or in places sheltered from strong winds. The sphere and hemisphere of water are often fitted in outdoor fountains but care must be taken when positioning them. Almost all these nozzles have a device to adjust the thickness of the sheet of water. It is important that the water delivered to these nozzles is clean to prevent blockages that could spoil the effect, so it is advisable to install a filter if you do not have guaranteed clean water.

Spraying Jet Nozzle (Fig. 44)

A helical device located inside the nozzle rotates the water swiftly to create a spray, forming a highly plastic cloud. Because the water is sprayed, it delivers a high volume flow with very little input water, but this means great care must be taken when deciding its position to prevent the wind carrying the spray out of the fountain. They are typically arranged in combination with other different nozzles or in groups of several spray nozzles to form rows or circles.

Dynamic nozzle (Fig. 45)

Equipped with a hydraulic spindle, this nozzle rotates when operating to produce mobile effects which differ from the previous nozzles with static operation. On other occasions, the hydraulic spindle can be coupled to a distribution manifold, on which several nozzles benefit from the rotation effect produced by the spindle. The outputs from the spindle need to have adjustable tilt so as to control rotation speed.

Vortex nozzle.

This nozzle operates in a completely different way from the other nozzles to provide a new concept. A totally water-tight motor drives a propeller on which the nozzle is fitted. This assembly is placed on a float in lakes or reservoirs, anchored to the bottom by means of steel turnbuckles. These units are very suitable for small reservoirs on golf courses. A large variety of effects can be created depending on the nozzle fitted on the propeller No hydraulic installation is needed, the only requirement being an electrical connection for the motor

These Vortex Nozzles should not be mistaken for Fountain Kits or Floating Fountains, which we shall look at later.

Special effects nozzle.

The range of special effects that can be achieved with fountain nozzles is virtually unlimited and special designs are available to produce parabolic domes, warped surfaces, revolving surfaces, etc… that will the most amazing patterns to your water feature. These nozzles are designed on request and to customer requirements.
